The Foreman
Half-hour stage play (Drama)
Logline:
In the heat of a Nazareth workshop, a logical carpenter must choose between a quiet exit that saves his reputation or a marriage that will make him the most ridiculed man in history.
Synopsis:
Jo is a meticulous man who trusts only what he can measure. When his fiancée Mary claims her pregnancy is a "visit from the Most High," his world collapses. To Jo, it isn't a miracle. It is a disaster.
Fearing for Mary's safety in a community that punishes scandal, Jo prepares to end the engagement quietly. But before he can sign the severance paperwork, a stranger in a high-viz vest named Gabe turns up in the workshop. Gabe has no interest in theology. He is a site foreman sent by "Management" to discuss logistics.
Across five scenes, The Foreman explores the heavy lifting behind the Nativity. It pits a strictly practical man against a plan that demands he build a family entirely on faith.
Themes:
This contemporary retelling shifts the perspective to Joseph. It strips away the Christmas card sentiment to ask a very grounded question about fatherhood: is it defined by biology, or by the man who chooses to stay?
